Detailed description
Fakataha helps smallholder farmers bring separate crop sacks together as one verified lot. Farmers seal their quantities before anyone can see them, check one another's crop grades, invite whole-lot bids, and receive a clear allocation of the accepted bid.
The app is designed for a real problem: one farmer may have too little crop to attract a serious buyer, while a dependable group can offer useful volume. Fakataha keeps that group coordinated without requiring an operator account, trader account, or central administrator inside the app.
Seal before reveal
- Enter the crop quantity and grade you intend to supply
- Capture a full-resolution photo of the crop sack
- Seal the entry as a cryptographic commitment before other quantities are visible
- Open the commitment later; a changed quantity or grade is rejected
- Keep the private opening secret encrypted on the device and recover it with the 12-word recovery phrase
Peer grading without a gatekeeper
- Each farmer receives randomized neighboring sacks to review
- Grade visible size consistency, damage, and firmness or moisture condition
- Robust consensus reduces the influence of a single unusual grade
- Agreement quality affects only the grader's quality premium, not the crop quantity they actually deliver
- Report unsafe crop photos, raise a child safety concern, or block a farmer directly from the grading screen
One lot, one bid board
- Share the six-character pool code with other farmers
- Move the pool through seal, reveal, grading, bidding, and delivery stages
- Buyers submit a price for the whole lot through a limited bid page
- Farmers see the same live pool state across phones and tablets
- The app does not include private chat or expose farmer contact details to buyers
Exact allocation
- Separate the accepted bid into quantity, verified quality, and transport components
- Use integer minor units so every unit is assigned exactly once
- Apply deterministic remainder rules so the same inputs always produce the same result
- Show each farmer the inputs behind their share
- Recalculate delivery outcomes without fines, debt, blacklists, or public shaming
Resilient when plans change
- Preview the pool at 90%, 75%, or 50% delivered volume
- A farmer who delivers short can forfeit only an unearned premium
- Core crop value is not converted into a penalty against them
- Other farmers keep the value they earned, and the allocation remains balanced
Built for field conditions
- Queue sealed entries, reveals, and delivery records during a connection loss
- Retry each action with a unique request identifier when the network returns
- Use server time for stage authority instead of trusting a phone clock
- Protect local secrets with Android Keystore encryption and a 4-6 digit app lock
- Restore the same farmer identity on another installation with the recovery phrase
- Optional notifications announce important pool-stage changes
Fakataha coordinates crop pooling and calculates proposed sale shares. It does not process money, arrange transport, offer credit, predict prices, or provide agricultural, financial, or legal advice. Farmers remain responsible for crop inspection, buyer due diligence, transport, contracts, and settlement outside the app.
