Detailed description
Check local UV Index, temperature, wind and cold context directly from your Wear OS watch. Add the WristExposure Tile for a glanceable conditions summary, or add the watch face complication for compact UV or cold status without opening the app.
Open WristExposure when you need a fresh local conditions check, see how fresh the weather data is, and get a conservative estimate of whether available foreground watch context suggests you may be outdoors.
LOCAL UV INDEX
• View the current local UV Index when available
• See clear UV categories from Low through Extreme
• Keep missing or unavailable UV explicit instead of treating it as zero
• See when weather data is current, aging, cached or last known
COLD AND WIND CONTEXT
• View current air temperature and wind
• See conservative cold and wind severity context
• Keep stale or expired observations clearly separated from current conditions
• Refresh conditions manually whenever you need a new check
WEAR OS TILE AND WATCH FACE COMPLICATION
• Add the WristExposure Tile for the latest known environmental signal, metric, context and freshness
• Add the SHORT_TEXT watch face complication for compact UV, cold, stale or unavailable status
• Tap either surface to open WristExposure
• Tile and complication rendering use the app's latest known state and do not start weather polling
WATCH-ASSISTED OUTDOOR CONTEXT
WristExposure can use supported foreground watch signals such as ambient light, motion, off-wrist state and location-transition context to estimate outdoor relevance.
The app combines evidence conservatively. A missing sensor does not block the app, and uncertain evidence stays Unknown rather than pretending the watch knows exactly where you are.
Ambient light is not treated as UV radiation, and watch sensors are not used to claim body or core temperature.
BUILT FOR DIFFERENT WEAR OS WATCHES
Optional sensors and onboard GPS are not required for installation. WristExposure adapts to the capabilities available on the watch and can use available approximate location sources where supported.
The app requests approximate location only for user-initiated local conditions. It does not request precise location or background location.
RESILIENT WEATHER DATA
Production local-condition requests use WristExposure's weather gateway, which returns provider provenance and bounded freshness information. The current production gateway uses WeatherAPI.com with MET Norway fallback, and the signed app retains a direct keyless MET Norway emergency fallback if the gateway is unavailable.
WristExposure shows the source and freshness of accepted observations and includes a Weather Data & Safety surface with provider information and limitations.
DESIGNED TO SHOW UNCERTAINTY
Weather and watch context can be delayed, unavailable or imperfect. WristExposure does not convert missing data into reassuring values and does not treat environmental hazard alone as proof that you are outdoors.
WristExposure is an environmental awareness utility, not a medical device or emergency service. It does not diagnose or predict sunburn, frostbite, hypothermia or other medical conditions, and it does not guarantee safety. Weather data may be inaccurate or delayed. Use official meteorological services and relevant authorities when accuracy is critical.
